Our Vision.

Our vision is to revolutionize athlete care by integrating advanced sciences like Postural Restoration and Applied Integration into every treatment plan. We are committed to continually learning and evolving, ensuring we address the root causes of dysfunction rather than just the symptoms. By optimizing movement, restoring balance, and enhancing performance, we empower athletes to achieve their highest potential.

Our Story.

Synergy Sports Medicine & Therapy was founded by Karen Hoyt, a dedicated professional with over 30 years of experience in optimizing human movement and performance. Karen’s journey began as a Division I hurdler in college, where her passion for athletic performance and recovery took root. Alongside competing as a professional beach volleyball player, she pursued a career in
physical therapy, driven by her desire to help athletes perform at their best.

Karen’s commitment to continual learning has shaped Synergy’s innovative approach. All staff actively pursue certifications and training in the latest therapies, integrating advanced sciences like Postural Restoration and Applied Integration into the practice. This dedication ensures that Synergy remains at the forefront of sports medicine, offering cutting-edge care tailored to the unique needs of each individual.

Based in St Petersburg, Florida, Synergy continues to grow and innovate, serving a wide range of clients—from active adults to collegiate and professional athletes. With a focus on addressing the root causes of movement dysfunction, Karen and her team are passionate about empowering their clients to recover fully, prevent injuries, and achieve peak performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book a consultation first?

No, you don’t need a separate consultation. Our initial evaluation is a comprehensive 90-minute session that includes full-body testing, a breathing assessment, and immediate treatment. This may involve manual therapy, exercises, and more. We also teach you initial corrective exercises to take home.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance. However, we are happy to provide a superbill if you would like to submit for reimbursement with your insurance provider.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $50 late cancellation fee. To cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact our office at 727-210-5330.

How long is a typical session?

A typical session lasts 1 hour. If needed, we can customize session times to be longer, which is common for patients visiting from out of town. We can also arrange multiple sessions in a row for out-of-town patients who are staying for a set amount of time.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Please wear or bring workout or loose-fitting clothing. Additionally, bring the athletic shoes and any orthotics you currently use. If you have an oral appliance (such as a mouth guard) and/or glasses you regularly use, please bring them with you as well.
